2 Days Harar Tour from Addis Ababa

Day 1. Addis -Dire Dawa – Harar 
 
Fly from Addis Ababa to Diredawa for 2 days harar tour and meet our representatives and wait for you at the Airport  with a sign of your name on it. Drive to Harar check-in to your Hotel. After resting, go out for a city tour of Harar.
On the Harar city tour will walk in the narrow alleyways of city paths passing through its colorful house and visit the Sheriff Museum (former Ras Teferi Honeymoon house), Rimbaud House, and Harari National Cultural Center. Visit Harari’s colorful house and local market.
 
One of the Best Experiences of Harar is to see the hyena man. He is a man who Tames the wild Hyena. He feeds Meat to the wild hyenas every night. Sometimes by holding meat in his mouth and a Hyena comes to grab and also you will see the  black kite bird feeding , tomb of Amir nur mujahid

Day 2. Harar – Dire Dawa – Addis Ababa
Morning Drive from Harar to Babile Camel Market and Valley of Marvels. Ba bile is the largest Camel Market in the region . It happens every Monday and Thursday.
 
Somali and Oromo farmers will walk to Babile to sell their Camels, Goats, and cattle. We will also drive further to the Valley of Marvels. It has wonderful landscapes, famous for its balancing rock formations. It is amazing to see how a big stone balances and stays on the tip of a single stone.
If It is not happen to be on a Market Day and not worth visiting Babile On your way back to Dire Dawa you will visit Koremi. Koremi is a village older than Harar itself. Its houses are built of stone in a very old style that may show the ancient architecture of the area.The People is a Koremi plant, a mild Narcotic plant called chat and coffee. Drive back to Dire Dawa airport to fly back to Addis.

2. Tigrai Churches Tour (5 Days and 4 Nights )
Day 1. Axum City tour
The tour includes the main stelea park. These famed granite obelisks are relics of this time and have gained UNESCO World Heritage site status. The tallest , the Great stelea, has fallen and broken in to six massive pieces , but when standing was 33 meters (108 feet) tall and weighed about five hundred twenty tones and other remarkable pre –Christian monuments .
We continue the city tour , visiting the swimming pool of Queen of Sheba , Ezana Inscription , tomb of King Kaleb and his son King Gebremeskel ,Queen of Sheba’s palace ; the legendary ruler of the south. as well as St. Mary Zion church and the Ark of the Covenant.

Day 2. Aksum –Gheralta
After breakfast, drive via the dramatic mountain of Adwa to visit the temple of Yeha, dating from the 8th to 7th centuries BC, and thought to be the capital of pre-Aksumite civilization and the museum. Afterwards, drive another hour to see the famous and oldest monastery of Debre damo and stop on the way in Adigrat for a lunch then drive to Hawzien .O/n Gherealta Lodge
Day3. Visit Gherealta churches
Drive 12km to west of Hawzien to see the famous church of Abune Yemata built by one of the nine saint, according to the clergy men 6thc A.D ,truly adventure place with a panoramic view and best paintings .O/n Gherealta lodge

After breakfast, drive to see mariam Korkor and Daniel Korkor takes more than an hour walking but enjoyable and best view.

Day 5. Gherealta – Mekelle
In the morning visit Abune Abrham church , an hour walking from the main road ,great view ,ancient church and beautiful paintings .On the way back ,visit the oldest, unique church of Abreha we Atsibeha the final rest place of King Ezana and Sizana .Stop in Wukro for lunch, in the afternoon ,visit Yohannse IV museum in Mekelle . 3. Historic Root – surface and flight tour 12 days 
Day 1. Addis –Bahirdar
Early in the morning, depart north to Bahirdar via Debre Markos. On the way visit the Portuguese bridge, said to have been the first bridge in Ethiopia. Afterwards, you will pass through the spectacular Blue Nile Gorge. The gorge extends nearly 400 km and reaches depths up to 1500 m.

Day 2. Bahirdar
In the morning, take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit some of the monasteries hidden on the islands and shores of this sacred lake. Visit the Zege Penninsula and the monasteries of Azuwa Maryam and Ura Kidane Mehret and the island monastery of Debre Maryam near the outlet of the Blue Nile River. In the afternoon, drive to see the Blue Nile Falls for a short hike in the area. Finish the day with the sunset over the lake. O/n Bahirdar hotel
Day 3- Bahirdar to Gonder
After breakfast, continue north to Gondar. The four-hour drive will take you through rural villages, offering wonderful insight into the Amhara culture. After briefly settling in your hotel, explore the sites of Gondar, including a visit to the Royal Enclosure, with six castles and several other buildings. Additionally, visit Fasilidas’s Pool, still used for Timket celebrations today, Ras Gimb Palace Museum and the Debre Birhan Selassie church, with the most famous ceiling in Ethiopia.

Day 4. Gonder – Simien Mountain
Early morning departure to Sankaber in the Simien Mountains. From here you will go for an easy hike to the Geech Abyss, where you will see a large waterfall where the Jinbar River plunges into the abyss. This area is also a great place for viewing the endemic gelada baboon, also known as the ‘bleeding heart baboon’ due to the red patch of skin on its chest. O/n Simien Mountains (lodge)
Day 5. Simien mountain –Axum
After breakfast, depart north for Axum, enjoying spectacular views of the Simien Mountains. After stopping for lunch in Adi Arkay or Shire , proceed driving through the dramatic Tekeze Valley, offering some of the best landscapes in the country. In the morning, visit the beautiful church of Abune Yemata Guh . It takes walk around 30 minutes from the parking area. It’s hidden church but most incredible as well it has amazing paintings and clergy men, believes the paintings are from 6thc A.D. Day 9. Gheralta – Mekelle

Day 10. Mekelle – Lalibela
Early in the morning, embark on a full day of driving to Lalibela. Here you will pass through several small villages, with typical sandstone homes of the Tigray people. Proceed through this rural area for the stunning approach to the home of Ethiopia’s most prized destination – Lalibela.

Day 11 .Visit Lalibela churches
In the morning, start your tour of the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, visiting the North western Cluster of churches – Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha (entry not permitted for women). After lunch, continue with the Southeastern Cluster of churches – Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. Day 12 Fly to Addis Ababa
Fly to Addis Ababa. Visit the National Museum, home of the 3 million year old skeleton “Lucy.” Optional souvenir shopping, enjoy a farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant featuring dancers and musicians representing some of the country’s many ethnic groups. Transfer to airport for late night departure if needed.

Day 9. Mekelle – Addis Ababa – Langano
Fly from Mekelle to Addis Ababa and continuing driving to Langano en route you will make a stop on Awash River and Lake Ziway to visit aquatic birds.
Continue your drive to Lake Langano (200Km from Addis Ababa, one of the Rift Valley Lakes and the only lake that you can swim in). Upon arrival, you will check into a resort by the lake side. In the evening you will have dinner at the lodge and stay the night there. Overnight -Sabana Beach Resort, Langano.

Day 10: Drive to Hawassa
In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to Awassa (75 Km from Langano). You will be arriving in Hawassa in afternoon and check into a hotel. Later, you can walk along the lake shore for nice evening sunset and aquatic birds. You will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel. Overnight- Lewi Resort and Hotel, Hawassa.

Day 11: Drive back to Addis Ababa
In the morning after breakfast, you will visit the scenic morning Fish Market in Awassa. Then you will drive back to Addis Ababa. On the way, you will also visit Abiatta-Shala National Park, Lake Shala (a very deep crater lake – over 260 meters deep) and Lake Abiatta (a soda lake with thousands of flamingos). You will stop for lunch at Ziway.
Day 12. Addis Ababa City Tour
Visit the National Museum, home of the 3 million year old skeleton “Lucy”, Trinity church, Ethnographic museum and Merkato –the biggest market in Africa.
Finally, you will be taken to a farewell dinner depending on your scheduled flight; you will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home.

Day 4. Mekele – Hamede Ela
Depart Mekele and drive to Hamede Ela campsite via Berhale. Once we reach Berhale, you will notice the landscape change. Most people associate this point as the start of the ‘depression’. Berhale is also a stopping off point for the camel caravans carrying salt from Lake Karum to the highlands of Ethiopian in the northwest. We will have lunch at Berhale before continuing on our journey to Hamede Ela.
That night we will camp out in the open at Hamede Ela. Before sunset we will travel a short distance to Lake Karum to watch the sunset from the salt flats on the lake. The water level on the lake is very shallow so it’s easy to walk out and and around on the lake.
After sunset, travel the short distance by car back to Hamede Ela. Overnight , at the campsite.
4h – 5h
Day 5: Hamede Ela – Dallol – Berhale -Abala
Rise early and travel over the low waters of Lake Assal. Although the distance is not far to get to Dallol, the cars have to drive very slowly on the salt lake so as to not damage the cars.
Once we arrive at the base of a small mountain, we’ll hike up to see the sulphur springs of Dallol. The colours and rock formations that you will see here are hard to believe.
From Dallol, we will drive back across the salt lake stopping off to see how the local Afari people mine and harvest the salt. This is probably one of the toughest jobs in the world.
After lunch in Berhale, continue driving for about 2 hours until we reach the town of Abala. Dinner and overnight stay in shared rooms in a local mans house.
Day 6: Abala – Erta Ale
After breakfast, drive for around 2 – 3 hours on a paved road, after which we will start our off roading! The first section will take us across the desert sands for around 1 hour after which we will stop for lunch in a small desert outpost town.
After lunch comes the slowest park of the off reading. We will navigate our way through a lava field covering around 12km in 1 and a half to 2 hours. Slow going!
The cars, will take us as far as a military outpost after which we will hike 3 hours to the top of the crater. Half of the hike will be done in daylight and half in darkness so bring a good torch.
Once we reach the top of the crater, you will get around 1 hour to relax and take in the amazing sight of the lava lake. This is truly an ‘out of this world’ experience and somewhat hard to fathom.
After taking in the lava lake, walk the short distance back to the camp for dinner and sleep.
Day 7: Erta Ale – Mekele
At 4am, wake up and walk the short distance down to the Crater Lake. Relax by the lava lake until sunrise. You will notice that the flow of the lake has changed since the night before so that is why we take in two visits to see the lava lake.
After sunrise, hike for 2 – 3 hours back down to the military camp for breakfast.
After breakfast, drive back to Mekele but we stop on the way for lunch.
Day 8. Mekelle –Adddis Ababa
Fly from Mekelle to Addis and explore the Ethiopian capital city ,Addis Ababa finally, transfer to airport and depart to home .

Danakil and Simien Mountains tour (12 Days and 11 Nights)
Day 1. Addis Ababa – Mekelle
Explore the city of Mekelle; Yohannes the IV museum, Monday market or spicy market, Abraha Castle, coffee ceremony and traditional food in Mekelle .
Day 2: Mekele – Hamede Ela
Depart Mekele and drive to Hamede Ela campsite via Berhale. Once we reach Berhale, you will notice the landscape change. Most people associate this point as the start of the ‘depression’. Day 8. Aksum –Simien Mountains
In the morning drive to Simien Mountains via the panoramic view of Lemalimo Mountains. On arrival we will meet our driver and depart for the Simien Mountains. At Debark you will sign in at the park headquarters, pick up your guide and scout and head up into the mountains. The road continues all the way to the first camp at Sankaber, but you’ll be dropped off on the way for a leisurely three hour acclimatization hike. The stunning views hit you as soon as you get out of the vehicle as you walk along the ridge. There will be time to stop for a picnic lunch and after a short but demanding climb (at this altitude) to Sankaber you’ll be met as every day on this trek with a tray of fresh coffee, tea and snacks. 7km 2/3 hours walking
Overnight :Camping
Day 9. Sankaber –Geech
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll set off trekking along the ridge with stunning views over the foothills 800m below. For the first two hours the trail passes through low bush of Giant Heather, soda apple, Abyssinian rose, St John’s Wort and Globe thistle. The highlight of the trek from Sankaber to Geech is Genbar Falls, an incredible 500m sheer drop. From the viewpoint opposite, you can watch the falcons, augur buzzard and lammergeyer bearded vulture soar on the thermals below. From the Genbar falls, the trail passes arable fields, broken by lunch at a somewhat less intimidating and more peaceful waterfall. Klipspringer and bush buck may be seen in the steep rocky and wooded slopes, whilst troops of Gelada Baboons roam the fields for roots. Just before you reach Geech camp site, there is a wonderful opportunity to visit one of the traditional village houses for home roasted coffee and injurra (ask your guide). Geech Camp itself is set on a grassy plateau with stunning sunset views. Walking 7-8hrs / 15km
Overnight :Camping
Day 10. Geech –Imet Gogo
After breakfast you’ll trek for 2 hours along the grass plateau past countless bizarre outsized Giant Lobelia plants. The destination is Imet Gogo, an incredible rocky promontory that grants 360 degree views over the Simien Range. At an altitude of 3,926m you can see West back along the ridge towards Sankaber and Geech and South East across a deep gully towards Inatye and Cheneck Camp. The views here are arguably the best in the Simien Mountains and the drop is terrifying. Day 5: Lailbela
This morning visit the Monastery of NakutoLa’ab hewn out of a rock cave. Alternatively, take a mule trek to the Asheton Mariam Monastery. After lunch, visit the second group of cave churches built by King Lalibela including the famous Bete Georgis which is located in a deep pit and is accessible only by a tunnel located nearby. You also visit the four churches south of the Jordan River. A traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony is a highlight this afternoon.

Day 6: Lalibela – Axum
Fly from Lalibela to Aksum and take city tour. The tour includes the main stelea park. These famed granite obelisks are relics of this time and have gained UNESCO World Heritage site status. The tallest , the Great stelea, has fallen and broken in to six massive pieces , but when standing was 33 meters (108 feet) tall and weighed about five hundred twenty tones and other remarkable pre –Christian monuments .
We continue the city tour , visiting the swimming pool of Queen of Sheba , Ezana Inscription , tomb of King Kaleb and his son King Gebremeskel ,Queen of Sheba’s palace ; the legendary ruler of the south. As well as St. Mary Zion church and the Ark of the

Day 7: Aksum –Gherata
After breakfast, drive to visit the temple of Yeha, dating from the 8th to 7th centuries BC, and thought to be the capital of pre-Aksumite civilization and the museum. Afterwards, drive minimum for 2 hours to reach Adigrat and stop for a lunch there. After lunch proceed through the state of Tigray, stopping en-route for a visit to the rock-hewn church of Medhani Alem AdiKesho.

Day 8. Gheralta -Mekelle
In the morning, visit either Abune Yemata Guh or Maryam Korkor and Daniel Korkor but the first one is highly recommended if you don’t have afraid of heights. Both churches involve an approximate one-hour hike but offer commanding views of the gherealta beautiful scenery. Then drive back to the town of Hawuzien for lunch. After lunch, drive to west of wukro to visit churches of Abreha we Atsbeha / Ezana and Saizana/ one of the ancient and most beautiful church in Tigrai dated back to the 4thc A.D.

Take a flight from Gonder to Lalibela.start your tour of the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, visiting the North-western Cluster of churches – Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha. After lunch, continue with the South-eastern Cluster of churches – Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. Finally, you will visit the most famous of all the churches – Bet Giyorgis, constructed in honour of the patron saint of Ethiopia – Saint George. Overnight in Lalibela /Sora Lodge/.
Day 4. Lalibela –Aksum
Fly from Lalibela to Aksum and visit the main sites of Aksum. The famous obelisks , archaeological museum, the Queen of Sheba’s Bath (which supplies water to Axum year-round), Ezana’s inscription, King Kaleb’s tomb, and the Queen of Sheba’s Palace as well as St. Mary of Zion church, where the Ark of the Covenant is kept. Men only are allowed to enter the old church but possible in the new one for both. Unfortunately, no one (except one specially chosen guardian monk) is allowed to enter the chapel where the Ark is kept. Overnight , Axum (Sabean Hotel).
Day 5. Axum -Gheralta
After breakfast, drive to visit the ruins of Yeha, dating from the 8th to 7th centuries BC, and thought to be the capital of Ethiopian civilization before Axum. Afterwards, visit the Debre Damo monastery, where the men (sorry! No women allowed but you can choose from both.) Must climb up a 18-m rope to enter. Proceed through the state of Tigray, stopping en-route for a visit to the rock-hewn church of Medhane Alem Adi Kesho.

Day 3 . Hawassa –Arbaminch
In the morning after breakfast, visit the fish market on the shores of Lake Awassa and then proceed driving to Dorze, set in the highlands above Arba Minch. The Dorze people are known for their tall beehive-like houses and their fine cotton weaving. You will visit the village and learn about the daily lives of these industrious people. If today is market day (in Dorze village on Monday and Thursday and in nearby Chencha on Tuesday and Saturday), that will be visited. Overnight in Dorze in traditional Dorze hut (shared toilet facilities) or continue to Arba Minch for overnight (camping, hotel or lodge).

Day 4. Arbaminch -Turmi
In the morning, depart to Arba Minch for a boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit the “crocodile market”, and the local hippos. Afterwards, depart from Arba Minch to Turmi. On the way you will pass through the village of Weyto (market day Saturday), which is home to the Tsemai tribe. Continue through the Weyto Valley to Erbore, where you will have a brief visit to a local Erbore village (market day is Saturday). Finally, proceed to Turmi, home of the Hamer tribe. At night, you can see the traditional night dancing of the Hamer tribe, known as evangadi. Overnight in Turmi (camping, hotel or lodge).

Day 5. Turmi
In the morning, take a day trip to Omorate to visit the Dassenech tribe. Here you will cross the Omo River by local boat and enter a Dassenech village. Afterwards, return to Turmi (Monday is market day) for a visit to a local Hamer village. If there is Jumping of the Bulls traditional Hamer coming-of-age ceremony, that will be visited. Overnight in Turmi (camping, basic hotel or lodge).

Day 6. Turmi –Jinka
Depart for Jinka, via Dimeka and Key Afar. Tuesdays and Saturdays are market days in Dimeka, which is one of the most colorful markets in the area and is visited by many tribes, including Hamer, Benna and Karo. Afterwards, continue to Jinka. Overnight in Jinka (camping, hotel or lodge).

Day 7. Jinka
In the morning, drive through the Mago National Park to a local village of the Mursi tribe. The Mursi are known for their lower lip and earlobe plates. In the afternoon, after returning to Jinka, you can visit the South Omo Museum & Research Center to learn more about the local tribes. Alternatively, take a hike in the surrounding hills to visit a local Ari village. Overnight in Jinka (camping, hotel or lodge).

Day 8. Jinka – Arbaminch
After breakfast, depart from Jinka to Arba Minch via Key Afer and Konso. Thursday is market day in Key Afar, where you will see the Benna and Tsemai tribes trading goods. This is another very popular market in the region. After the visit, proceed to Konso (market days are Mondays and Thursdays). The Konso people are known for their wooden statues, known as wakas, which are erected in honor of dead heroes as well as their innovative agricultural terracing. Today you will have a brief opportunity to visit a local village and the cultural museum displaying many waka statues. After the visit, proceed driving to Arba Minch. Overnight Arba Minch paradise lodge.

Day 9. Arbaminch – Addis Ababa
Early in the morning depart from Arba Minch for a full day’s drive to Addis Ababa. On the way you may have time to visit one of the following archeological sites of interest:
– Tiya – ancient stellae field and UNESCO World Heritage site
– Adadi Maryam – rock-hewn church similar to those in Lalibela
– Melka Kunture – pre-historic tool-making site

Day 3 : Driver to Gondar and Sightseeing of Gondar

In the morning, drive to Hamedela. At Berhale where we arrange the permits and police escort. On the way you will also admire some local Tigrean and Afar tribes’ village and camel caravan carrying the salt bars to transport it to the nearest local town.

Day 09 : HamedEla – Dodome – Erta Ale

In the morning drive to Dodome. Here we will arrange camels to transport your luggage and water, and then you will start hiking to the Erta Ale Volcanic hills (613 meters above sea level) which is 15km one way, and walk to see the volcanic eruption. The eruption is so colorful and spectacular. At night, we will camp nearby the eruption, on the crater rim above the active lava lake.

Day 10 : More excursions in Dodom and drive back to Hamadela

Climbing again early in the morning to the rim to see the sun set., then drive to Hamedela.Late after noon visit camel caravan.

Day 11 : Excursion to Daloll depression drive back to Mekele

After early breakfast drive to the Lake Asale, salty Lake and visit the salt workers and the merchant, then head to Dallol/Denakil Depression, which listed as the hottest and active place on the earth surface with an average temperature of 40 – 50 degrees Celsius. Then drive back to Mekelle.

Day 12 : Drive to lalibela

In the morning after breakfast drive to Lalibela on the way stop for panoramic view .

Day 13 : Full day excursions in Lalibela

After breakfast visit Lalibela rock hewn churches, famous for its rock-hewn churches dating back 800 years. This is the most important stop on the historical route and from the air the 11 churches, carved into the rugged mountainside, present an awesome spectacle.
Day 14 : Fly Back to Addis and drive to Hwassa

Morning after breakfast transfer to airport for flight back to Addis and transfer to Hawassa to the rift valley lakes region.

Day 18 : Drive to Jinka

Early Excursion to Karo village for the visit of Karo tribes with their interesting body decorations and scarification; Then drive to Jinka.

Day 1: Mekelle-Drive to Dodom-Volcano
We drive from Mekele to – Dodom. We start early drive to Dodom (at the base of Erta Ale). Leave after an early breakfast, possible at 07:30.

Day 2: Dodem -Hammedele,
Descend from Erta Ale around 9 am Dodom – Hamd Ela. Leave back to Dodom after an early breakfast, if possible at 07:00. You will reach latest at 10:30 am at the camp, time to relax. After drive to reach Hamad Ela, better village with a total population about 500 people. O/n Hamedela( camping)

Day 3: Hamedela-Mekele
