Day 2: Flight to Lalibela – Explore Rock-Hewn Churches & Easter Eve Celebrations
Take a morning flight to Lalibela, the “New Jerusalem” of Ethiopia and a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, visit the iconic rock-hewn churches, including Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Maryam, and the iconic Bete Giyorgis (St. George)—all carved from solid rock in the 12th century. As night falls, immerse yourself in the powerful Easter Eve (Fasika) celebrations. Join local Orthodox Christians in candlelit prayers, chants, and spiritual gatherings that continue into the early morning hours.
Day 3: Flight to Axum – City Tour of Ethiopia’s Ancient Capital
This morning, fly from Lalibela to Axum, the cradle of Ethiopian civilization and a city rich in religious and historical significance. After check-in, embark on a guided city tour including the towering Axum obelisks, the Queen of Sheba’s palace ruins, the Church of St. Mary of Zion, and the Ark of the Covenant Chapel. Experience Axum’s deep spiritual atmosphere, especially during Easter, as local communities gather in celebration. Overnight in Axum.
Day 4: Excursion to Yeha Temple and the Historic Adwa Mountains
